ORDINANCE NO. 63

An Ordinance Establishing Election Precincts

Now, Therefore, be it ordained by the Board of Supervisors of Wright County, Iowa:
Section 1.  Wright County Ordinance No. 27 adopted October 15, 2001 and Ordinance No. 43 adopted September 26, 2011, is hereby amended by repealing all sections and by adopting the following new sections.

Section 2.  The purpose of this ordinance is to establish election precincts effective January 15, 2022, in accordance with Chapters 331.210A and 49.7 of the Code of Iowa.

Section 3.  Pursuant to Chapter 21 of the Code of Iowa, a public hearing has been duly held and the Board of Supervisors of Wright County, Iowa hereby adopts the 2021 Wright County Redistricting Plan as follows:
     A.  VOTING PRECINCTS. The County shall be divided into precincts as required by Chapter 49 of the Code of Iowa in the following manner:

  1. The first precinct called Belmond in Wright County shall consist of all of Belmond, Pleasant, and Iowa Townships, including all of the City of Belmond and the City of Rowan.
  2. The second precinct called Clarion in Wright County shall consist of all the incorporated area of the City of Clarion.
  3. The third precinct called the Big 6 Townships in Wright County shall consist of the unincorporated areas of Norway, Lake, Lincoln, Grant, Dayton, and Wall Lake.
  4. The fourth precinct called Dows in Wright County shall consist of all of Blaine and Vernon Township including all of the incorporated area of the City of Galt and that portion of the incorporated area of the City of Dows lying in Wright County.
  5. The fifth precinct called Goldfield in Wright County shall consist of all the Boone and Liberty Township including all of the incorporated area of the City of Goldfield.
  6. The sixth precinct called Rural Eagle Grove in Wright County shall consist of all of Woolstock, Troy, and Eagle Grove Townships including all of the incorporated area of the City of Woolstock and excluding the incorporated area of the City of Eagle Grove.
  7. The seventh precinct called EG Ward #1 in Wright County shall consist of Ward #1 in the City of Eagle Grove.
  8. The eighth precinct called EG Ward #2 in Wright County shall consist of Ward #2 in the City of Eagle Grove.
  9. The ninth precinct called EG Ward #3 in Wright County shall consist of Ward #3 in the City of Eagle Grove.
  10. The tenth precinct called EG Ward #4 in Wright County shall consist of Ward #4 in the City of Eagle Grove.

Section 4.  A copy of the plan shall be kept at the County Auditor’s office for public inspection.

Section 5.  Severability Clause. If any section, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.

Section 6. This ordinance shall be effective on January 15, 2022, after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
